BMW ISN Change for EGS Gearbox Mechatronic Units
When a gearbox fails, many customers turn to second-hand replacements due to the high cost of genuine new parts. However, if you choose a used gearbox or Mechatronic unit, you’ll need this specialised service.
A brand-new Mechatronic control unit (located within the gearbox) is coded once with a unique ISN (Individual Serial Number) as part of the vehicle’s security system. This ISN cannot, usually be altered. Meaning the vehicle may start, but the gearbox will not engage gears. This design ensures customers often have no choice but to purchase a brand new replacement.
At Grosvenor, we can rewrite the ISN for EGS Mechatronic units. This is an advanced service offered by only a select few specialists worldwide. This enables you to use second-hand parts without being forced to buy new replacements.
We support most BMW E-Series, F-Series, and most G-Series vehicles.
Key Details:
- Cost: £150 + VAT
- Timeframe: We require your vehicle for one working day.
- Gearbox / Mechatronic only Service: Many 8-speed F-Series Mechatronic units can be “virginised” without the vehicle. This allows us to prepare the unit for installation. The unit can then be fitted and coded with either a factory BMW tool or Autologic.
