Mini Screen Constantly Restarting / Rebooting

Affected Vehicles

Before diving into details, it’s important to clarify which vehicles are impacted by this issue. This fault affects All F-series Mini models manufactured between 2014 and 2021, regardless of whether the vehicle is equipped with a satnav system. If your Mini falls outside of this year range, this specific solution will not apply.

The Problem

This issue has been a common headache for owners of Mini F-series models. The fault is characterized by the head unit either:

  • Constantly rebooting (from a few seconds to 1 minute) or…
  • Being completely stuck on the Mini boot logo.

Historically, the only solution was to replace the faulty units entirely, which came with a hefty price tag of around £1500 (fitted and programmed). However, there’s now a much more cost-effective repair option.

Our Solution

We’ve developed a reliable fix by updating the head unit’s software to the latest version, which has been 100% successful on every unit we’ve repaired so far—even those failing to boot. This solution applies specifically to:

  • Business Navigation systems (entry_nav units with Route navigation) and
  • Basic head units (without navigation).

Unfortunately, this solution is not applicable to older Mini models, cars with Pro Navigiation or other head unit types.

Cost and Process to rectify Mini Screen Constantly Restarting / Rebooting

We offer a complete vehicle software update for just £130 (inc VAT). Here’s why our process stands out:

  • Comprehensive Update: We don’t just update the faulty head unit; we update the entire vehicle to the latest BMW software version. This ensures compatibility and avoids dependency errors.
  • Professional Equipment: We use professional-grade power supplies to maintain stable power throughout the flashing process. Attempting this without adequate equipment can lead to module failure.

Important Notes

At this time, we do not provide:

  • A remote upgrade service, or
  • A bench flash option for these head units.

All updates must be performed on-site, with the whole vehicle available for a full working day.

Location

Our service is based in Reading, Berkshire, and we’re proud to offer a professional, no-corners-cut solution to this common issue.
