Gearbox Performance Flash Tune

So you’ve heard of gearbox tuning before, maybe you have even seen products online that will flash or modify gearbox software but are worried about damaging your car? We generally offer 3 stages of xHP tune for supported models.

Stage 1 tune:

The Stage 1 tune takes care of the basics when are running a engine remap (tune). 3rd and 6th gear have a torque limit via gearbox software so can restrict power output with a tuned engine.

  • Optimised ‘D’ shift points to facilitate sporty, yet economy style driving.
  • Optimised shift strategy for up/downhill driving.
  • Optimised warm up behaviour.
  • Optimised torque converter lockup in 1st/2nd/3rd gear.
  • Adapted torque limits for tuned engines.
  • Kick down removal in Manual Mode.
  • Gear display on dash in D/S/M Modes.

Stage 2 tune:

The Stage 2 tune starts making huge changes and allows you access additional shift programs via the DEC switch. This setup is similar to ///M vehicles where you can freely configure the shift-speeds in 3 levels, no matter if you are in D, S or M mode. You can always select your preferred shift program and combine it with the speed and firmness you like.

  • Optimised D & S shift points for better acceleration in part and full throttle situations.
  • Approx 25% faster up shifts in D/S/M modes.
  • Faster paddle response time.
  • Optimised torque converter lockup in 1st/2nd/3rd gear Optimised Warm up Behaviour.
  • Further increases in torque limits for tuned engines.
  • Kick down delete in D and Manual modes.
  • Gear display on dash in D/S/M Modes.

Stage 3 tune:

The Stage 3 map has all the features of the previous stages, but is more focused on flat out performance.

Putting the gearbox in ‘S’ and select Sport+ with the DEC switch to be ready for maximum acceleration. This mode has one goal and that is to maximise acceleration and shift as fast as possible.

  • Optimised D & S shift points for better acceleration in part and full throttle situations.
  • Approx. 25% faster up shifts in D/S modes.
  • Approx. 50% faster up shifts in M mode.
  • Rev Matched downshifting (only available some vehicles).
  • True manual mode (no forced up shift at limiter).
  • Instant paddle response time.
  • Optimised torque converter lockup in 1st/2nd/3rd gear.
  • Optimised warm up Behaviour.
  • Torque limits set to 1000nm.
  • Kick down delete in D/S/M.
  • Gear display on dash in D/S/M Modes.

DEC button – Altering gearbox behaviour (on ZF 8HP equipped vehicles).

Most models now include a DEC button (Driving Experience Switch) button to alter the car’s behaviour. Unfortunately, BMW did not use this function to it’s full potential on the regular (non ///M powered) models). Our gearbox performance tunes reprogram your transmission allowing access more shift programs (dependent on model).
